Gmail labels and folders organize mail differently
Gmail labels are tags attached to messages or threads; they can describe several useful views of the same mail without deleting the message.

A label is a tag, not another mailbox
Gmail's label model lets a message carry more than one label. For example, a travel receipt might have both a trip label and a finance label. Labels help you find and group mail while Gmail remains the place where the message itself is stored.
System labels and user labels differ
Gmail supplies system labels such as Inbox and Sent, and people or applications create user labels. These are not interchangeable. InboxRevamp's historical cleanup targets only explicitly approved user-label memberships; system labels are outside the cleanup and stay untouched.
Thread and message membership can differ
Gmail associates labels with messages and threads. A label shown on a thread does not necessarily mean it is present on every message inside that conversation. This is one reason a safe organization job needs a bounded, server-owned scope and should report what it actually processed.
Simplify memberships with a preview
InboxRevamp maps old user labels into proposed destination categories and shows representative mail before any change. During Revamp it adds and verifies a destination membership before removing an approved source membership. Old user-label objects remain available in Gmail.
Use a new Check for a new structure
After Revamp, the approved category set guides new mail only. Category edits do not rewrite old message memberships. If you want to reorganize historical mail again, run Inbox Check Again, inspect the new recommendation, and approve a new bounded plan.
